Every moment matters. That can be daunting
when you think of all that you do in a day...or don't do. Often times I find
myself wasting time on Instagram for 20 minutes, cruising through the latest fashion
trends, reading articles on Relevant magazine or Lord knows what. I'm not
hurting anyone by doing this, but was that really the best use of my time in
that exact moment?
Sometimes when I'm the most stressed out is
when I choose to check out. It's like when you REALLY need to do some work,
that's when you decide your house needs to be thoroughly cleaned and bleached.
My mother knows since birth I put the "pro" in procrastination. As an
adult I've learned how to be more proactive avoiding these stressful scenarios
but in my line of work, problems pop up unannounced all the time and you need
to get over it. I really hate phrases like "let go, let God," because
I get that it's cute and catchy but seriously it doesn't help or make me feel
better at all.
Give me some truth.
Give me some truth.
"Walk in wisdom towards outsiders,
making the best use of the time." -Colossians 4:5
"Making the best use of the time,
because the days are evil." -Ephesians 5:16
"So, whether you eat or drink, or
whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
-1 Corinthians 10:31
There are multiple causes to stress and worry but a
large factor for me is learning how to manage my time properly. If you get
overwhelmed in times of stress evaluate the situation and ask, "Could I
have been more proactive in order to avoid situations like this?" Usually
you learn from this situation in retrospect, but if instead you ask yourself
this upfront, you'll be quick to find a solution. We all need down time, but
make it matter. Instead of reaching for your phone first thing in the morning,
reach over for the Word. I keep catching myself say, "It's just a busy
season right now" but really…that's life. I'm not entirely sure when it
will ever be NOT busy. So embrace that now, and start creating your schedule with
God's will in mind. Am I using my (precious) time that God gave me wisely in
order to bring glory to him in all that I do? Put the "pro" in
proactive instead of procrastination.
This is not a dress. Don't you dare try to wear it as one.
I purchased these cute shorts at Hallie B and the Somedays Lovin Tunic at Poe and Arrows in Rockwall. My purse is vintage from my momma and the antler tip necklace I made myself.
Nice, very nice. Glad I found it.
