I can't believe it's already Halloween! My initial
reaction is excitement because I love the holidays and Halloween marks the
beginning of the holiday season. It also means the weather should hopefully be
cooling down and I can break out my boots, hats, and
scarves. Halloween is a holiday focused on instilling fear in people, which
sometimes can be invigorating and fun but outside of this spooky holiday, fear
is the thief of joy in our lives. What
does the Bible say about fear? There are so many scriptures that reference fear
in our lives and I encourage those of us who struggle with fear to write these
truths on our hearts.
There is no fear in love, but perfect
love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has
not been perfected in love. – 1 John 4:18
For God gave us a spirit not of fear
but of power and love and self-control. – 2 Timothy 1:7
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:6
When I am afraid, I put my trust in
you. – Psalm 56:3
Peace I leave with you; my peace I
give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be
troubled, neither let them be afraid. – John 14:27
Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and
your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4
Those who have Christ have nothing to fear. When
you’re faced with your next scare remember that there is nothing to fear in
this world if you have faith in the one true God.
Trick or Treat!
