Let it Snow

One of my favorite Christmas songs is "Let it Snow"; however, in Texas we don't see a whole lot of it (it's usually ice). It's such nice imagery though! "Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful…" makes you feel so cozy. Even though we may not get snow often, I've learned to feel this way about rain too. There's something about being in the comfort of the indoors but still getting to watch what's happening outside. You have a sense of appreciation for the roof over your head and the warmth from blankets and a fire. Even thinking about it now makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

That feeling is similar to the feeling I get when I think back on my life before Christ in comparison to my life now. I used to live in chaos and despair but now I have comfort and joy. The world around me didn't change but I did. All of life's problems don't fix themselves when you become a Christian. We still face hardships but the difference is we no longer have to rely solely on ourselves to get through them. Before Christ, I would try to battle the storms of this life and handle temptations all by myself. With Christ, I have the Holy Spirit and a wonderful, godly community by my side. Because we are called to be in the world but not of the world (John 17:14-15 & Romans 12:1-2), I can watch the rain and snow come down around me but I don't have to go out in it. Thanks to my Heavenly Father, when the weather outside starts to get frightful, I can sit by the fire that is so delightful and say, "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20
