The Greatest Gift

Thank God for the break. Literally. It’s so easy to get caught up in purchasing presents, getting work wrapped up and in my case, packing that we forget the real reason of the holiday. I have many favorite family Christmas traditions: wearing new pajamas on Christmas eve, going to Kellers burgers, and Mom making monkey bread on Christmas morning. My favorite tradition is singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus. We light a candle, sometimes huddle around a table manger and sing "Happy Birthday" to our Lord. Since we don't have little kids in the family, we have the luxury of taking our time on Christmas morning and starting it right by honoring the one it's all about.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 6:23

The most precious gift of all was given to us over two thousand years ago in the form of a baby. While it's always fun to give and receive gifts on Christmas, it's even more important to realize that we already have the best gift there ever was. I urge Christians to use this season as an opportunity to share this amazing gift with someone who doesn't know Christ. It could be as simple as you asking someone about their favorite gift they ever received and in return you respond with what God has given you!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
- John 3:16
