Light Up The Sky

Light. It's one of those words we don't typically need to look up a definition for. We have an understanding of what light is because we experience it every day. If I asked you to define it, what would you say? Webster defines it as "the form of energy that makes it possible to see things". This tells us two things: energy is required for light and light is required for sight. Why am I breaking down the definition of light? Because light stimulates more than just our physical vision; it stimulates us spiritually as well.

Just like physical light needs energy, the light that comes from within us needs energy too. Where does that energy come from? It comes from God's light shining through us. It's that burning desire to share the love of Jesus with others. There are so many places in scripture that refer to light – "you are the light of the world", "let your light shine before others", "you shine as lights in the world" (Matthew 5:14-16 & Philippians 2:15-16) to list a few. What the Bible teaches us is that we are called to shine brightly and proudly until the day His light will be the only light source (Revelation 21:23-25). Until then, let's pray that we exude God's glory so brightly that we light up the sky!
