Did you know the word "pumpkin" first debuted itself in the fairy tale Cinderella and before that they were called gros melons?? Or that the largest pumpkin pie made was 350 pounds?!* Um yes please! We may have just had our first flurries here in Colorado, but I'm obsessing over the beauty of fall: Pumpkin patches everywhere, Halloween decor, pumpkin spice everything and that amazing smells in the air that says "change is happening."
I struggle with worrying when everything is great that in the near future unsuspected surprises await and I can't accept the uncertainty. Have you ever had that feeling when you think, "It's all too good to be true!" This may in fact be very true! Difficulties are in fact coming (hello, that's life) but don't let the fear of the unknown cloud your perceptions of the beauty in the moment. I find myself praying for God to protect the blessings in my life more so than thanking him. My mom always says the phrase, "Change is inevitable, growth is optional."
I remind myself of that often because every day is a new opportunity to look at decisions as either obstacles or opportunity. The last few months have been such a time of unexpected, wonderful, terrifying decisions which make life an adventure! In this current season of joy, I remind myself to thank my Creator and grow closer to Him so that when hardships come my way I'm not afraid because I know that He has a plan for me. I could go on and on with cheesy phrases about looking at the glass half full instead of half empty but it's the truth. Our perception of life and of God means the difference between walking through life confidently with Him or stumbling around fearing what lurks ahead.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance...
-Ecclesiastes 3:4
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 4:6-7
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
-1 John 4:18
For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.
-Psalm 5:12

A few weeks back, I played dress up with Whorl Boutique's new fall clothes! I was a bit dressed up walking in and kept thinking, I just want to look cute and comfortable at the same time. I gravitated toward a pair of slim-legged trousers and a thick and boxy grey sweatshirt that was on the edge of something I could wear cuddled at home but had great texture and quality that made it a perfect mate with the structured pant. Obviously I added a hat because it is my accessory of choice and gave a fun Halloween-like vibe! This hat is both functional and sassy with the extra wide brim. Feeling trendy, I added my metal choker that I purchased at Forever 21 for about $10...big spender! If you haven't noticed I'm a minimalist when it comes to my jewelry and tend to stick to staples unless I find a great costume piece.
Next week I'll be sharing a tasty new recipe for an organic, healthy, fall-inspired smoothie!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the cozy sweater weather!

I love your pictures! Fall is Denver is always the best. I have never been to Whorl Boutique, but I look forward to checking it out when I am back home. Great mix of Dallas and Denver. Thanks!
